NEW DELHI: Joining the league Cheteshwar Pujara becomes the third Indian to bat on all five days during the first Test going between India and Sri Lanka. Apart from this he has become the ninth overall to bat on all five days during a test match.
KL Rahul was dismissed from the first delivery of the match on day one. Later Pujara came in to bat and top scored for India with 52 off 117. Then Shikhar Dhawan left after a great 94 off 116, he was roped in to bat on Day four. He resumed the innings on November 20, with Rahul. Rahul left behind the disappointment of a first-ball duck with a decent 73*.
Apart from Pujara, other two Indians – ML Jaisimha and current India coach Ravi Shastri have made their mark on all five days. Jaisimha played his innings against Australia in 1960, scoring 20* and 74. Shastri followed in 1984 against England scoring 111 and 7*.
